Greetings CHS Instrumental Music Students and Parents,

As you may know, students from every public school in Cheshire including the Cheshire High School Marching Ram Band, Symphonic Band, select Concert Band members, and String Orchestra will be performing on the Cheshire Education Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Concert, Wednesday September 30th, beginning at 7 PM in the Thorp Auditorium at Cheshire High School.  The concert is open to the public and admission is free.

The concert will open with the National Anthem performed by Cheshire’s Marching Ram Band followed by an indoor rendition of it's fall show, Duality.  A combined choir with students from all four elementary schools will sing And Make It So, followed by performances from the Dodd Chorus, the Cheshire High Concert Choir, the Women’s Chorale, the VIPs, and the Chromatix Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

An original overture composed for the Dodd Band entitled Age of Redemption will be presented by members of the Dodd and CHS Bands.  The work, by composer Sean O’Loughlin, was first performed in 2007.   The Cheshire Education Foundation provided the funding for O’Loughlin as a composer in residence.

And, the Dodd and CHS String Orchestras will join forces to perform Over The Rainbow.

Concert Dress is black dress pants, black shoes, black socks, solid black four-in-hand tie, and collared white shirt. No sport shoes or sandals. Black suits or tuxedos (with the above accessories) are also acceptable.

Or

Black sleeved top (no bare midriff, shoulders, or low neckline) and a solid black bottom (FULL/FLOOR LENGTH black skirt or black dress pants), black hose and black shoes. No sport shoes or sandals. Long (FULL/FLOOR LENGTH) black sleeved gowns/dresses (with the above accessories) are also acceptable.

All concert dress shall be in conservative good taste.

We expect the performance to conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m.  There will be an ice cream reception in the West Gym for all participating students immediately following the performance.  And your parents can meet you in the West Gym prior to your going home.

If you have any questions please contact me anytime.

Sincerely,
