Its finally fall! I hope that everyone’s week is off to a good start.
Wow – I survived. Yes, I made it through a weekend without being with the marching band. I did not get to see, in person, their stellar performance and second place seat this weekend. 81.350, Best Percussion, Best Guard….we are on our way! I waited with baited breath with several alumni of the CHSMRB from the Class of 1985, for the scores. Way to go RamBand!!!!
Thank you to all of the parents who helped chaperone, move equipment and cheer on the band!! Thanks to the volunteers on short notice for the Cheshire Education Foundation Concert … Joe Campbell, Cristina Goncalves, Philip Unger, Michele Acton, Kerrie Dunne, and Kirsten Gunther. We could not do this without you! RamPride!!
Important Information and Updates:
Lyman Hall show this weekend – being hosted at Sheehan High School. Schedule up on http://www.ramband.com/marching-ram-band/competitions/oct-10th-2015-lyman-hall
Check out our photo slide show on the home page at ramband.com!
Music in Motion Sponsors / Ad sales are well underway and we appreciate the support. We have raised $3,045.00 so far and still coming in! Please have any ads or sponsorships in before the end of this week at the latest. I will be putting the program for the show together this weekend. Thank you or the support!
Annual Lyman Orchards Pie Sale Fundraiser is still running. If you did not get an order form, it is probably in your band members’ mailbox!! Sales will run until October 13th for delivery before Thanksgiving. We will provide delivery dates and times in a later update.
Allentown Trip planning is underway. The Student Executive Board requested that the BPA Board look into an overnight trip for the band and color guard this season. The first option is to attend the USBands Open Competition, Saturday, November 14th in Allentown, PA. The students would travel Friday night the 13th and return Sunday afternoon, the 15th. The cost of the trip is estimated at $190-$250 per band member (with the ability to use Charms credits), largely depending on our ability to get some of the transportation cost covered by the Board of Ed and the cost of food. Right now, we need at the absolute minimum, 105 of the band and color guard to commit to the trip in order to proceed and finalize the trip details and cost. Commitment forms will be emailed, posted and handed out to the band members. We need response no later than Saturday this week (October 10th). We will tally the responses and send an update out in the weekly next week.
For Band Parents who have partially paid for your 2015 membership dues, the balance was due by the 30th of September. Please place your check in the Forms Drop Box.
The presentation from last week’s BPA General Membership meeting is posted. Please link to it here if you were not able to attend.
We’ve settled into of a routine with Food Service orders. Remember to have your Food Orders completed on-line by Thursday!!!! The orders get placed in advance.
The Elementary School Tour is Friday the 9th of October. A sign up for chaperones and equipment support is up on the site.
The schedule is up for all of the remaining games and competitions (with the exception of Nationals) and we have an interest survey for the band banquet and pancake breakfast. It’s easy to use and helps us to know who we have coming and where we have gaps. If you need assistance with using the on-line sign-up, please contact me or Mark Nowicki for help.
Music In Motion: The on-line sign up for volunteers and equipment is up. So far, we have 278 individual slots, 120 are filled, 158 need to be filled. Weakest areas are Beachmaster, and the Friday, Saturday and Sunday Set-Up and Breakdown areas. Those 120 slots were filled with 77 people, many filling multiple slots. WE NEED ALL HANDS ON DECK! Please sign-up for a shift. Any shift, any help. I know that many of you let us know you could help on the volunteer forms, but it would help us IMMENSELY to coordinate coverage and gaps if you could sign up on-line. It’s easy! Please sign up at:
Train Show and Christmas Tree Pick-up sign-ups coming soon! These are two of our long-standing fundraisers that need band member and parent support. And they are after official season is over, when we have more time, right?
Lastly, Mr. Kuhner and I will be visiting with the Superintendent of Schools early next week to discuss transportation funds for Allentown and the need for new uniform jackets. I will dress accordingly in one of our uniforms, complete with Shako held together with safety pins, to give a close-up view of the age and wear of the uniform. It just might tie with the volunteers who wore the mattresses!!!
Thank you for your continued energy and support!
