Dear all,


Here is my weekly update, starting with some special thanks:


Thank you to all of the parents for the support at the football game on the 13th and for the great turnout and success at the Train Show yesterday!  I heard we did very well.  Thank you to Maura and Maryam for their leadership and to all the parents and students (and some alumni parents too!) for all of the great work putting the show together!  Go team!


Thank you to Dom DiSorbo for the letter to the editor in the Cheshire Herald this past week.  Very glad to see that it was published and that our wonderful kids get a little kudos for all that they do!


Reminder to get the Band Banquet RSVP forms in by Wednesday November 25th.  Band members need a form even if you are not going to attend (though they are free of charge) so that we can get a headcount.  The cost for parents, siblings, friends, etc. is $50.00 per person.  The form is located in the bottom of my last update on ramband.com or on the parent sign-up page.  http://www.ramband.com/band-parents-association/parent-volunteer-sign-ups.  The banquet is Thursday December 3 at 6:30pm.

The Pancake Breakfast will be hosted by John and Celenne in the Commons.  An invite was sent from Mr. K to the band members on November 20th with a link to the sign-up.  Band members need to RSVP by tonight!


Upcoming Events:

Sign-ups for the December 10th Winter Concert and for NEMFA on the 12th will be up soon on the parent volunteer page.


Christmas Tree pick-up January 9th.  More information coming soon on details, schedule, and sign-ups. This is another opportunity for a good fundraiser for the Band!  Joe Campbell has agreed to lead again this year and we are very thankful that he and Brenda are taking this on again.  Let's support them in making this a big fundraiser for the band programs!


Mr. Ciasullo has confirmed that the fundraiser “Pasta and Jazz” will be held February 26th, 2016. We will be looking for volunteers as well as donations for a raffle for this event. Stay tuned for more information.


Other news:

The following BPA members have volunteered to be our scholarship committee for 2016:  Pam Fielding, Qui Fang, Carolyn Bradley, Yuan Ratliff, and Ann Marie Kemp.  Thank you!  Mr. C and Mr. K will also participate on the committee.  I will provide more information on the scholarships and process at the BPA Meeting.


I have contacted Pepwear (the provider of the USBands tee-shirts, etc.) to inquire about the custom shirts/sweatshirts that have been available after Nationals in past years.  On the front of the apparel is the Nationals Logo with date and the back has the name of each of our band members.  Several of you have asked me about this and I am working with Pepwear.  I will provide details as soon as I have them (cost, how to order, etc.)

If anyone is interested in heading up the nominating committee for the Board elections in the spring, please email me.  It is not a huge time commitment, but will require some coordination and leadership.  We need to have this in place no later than March 1, 2016.


Audra and I have spent some time with Mr. K and the instructors regarding winter programs for guard and percussion.  We will share preliminary plans at the meeting.  Budget will be key factor as we set the dues at the same level as the marching band dues.
